MISSION STATEMENT
"To provide quality learning programmes and assessment services to the Surface Coatings Industry which will meet agreed training needs and so contribute to the social and economic development of learners and of the Surface Coatings Industry"
SAPITI is the training arm of SAPMA. The overall objective of SAPITI is to provide education and training services to the paint manufacturing industry, to companies supplying goods and services to the industry as well as to users and specifiers of the industry's products.
A paint technology course is offered in 11 modules. Most modules are of four months duration and consist of a self-study part combined with compulsory practical work exercise in the laboratories of SAPMA members under the guidance of qualified counsellors. Qualifications are certified and recognised through the industry.
A training scheme leading to vocational qualifications for manufacturing workers is under development. Both the paint technology course and the vocational training material will be adapted to comply with the requirements of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
The institute promotes and facilitates the availability of specialised courses if warranted by demand.
Tutors have been appointed in major South African cities and they are all Paint Technologists, with many years of experience in the industry.
